Musculoskeletal

Drs. Mori, Bean & Brooks provides a complete
musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging service. Our service includes
both conventional and state-of-the-art imaging including
imaging guided interventional procedures. Our MSK imaging
team has years of experience which may include additional
fellowship training specifically in MSK.

We offer conventional radiographs (x-rays) and fluoroscopy
which enable us to directly visualize the area of concern.
These modalities also allow guidance and placement of
needles into areas needing intervention including joint
injections or aspirations throughout the body.

Significant advances in technology have occurred over the
past few years. Many of the newer techniques are referred to
as “advanced imaging techniques” and they include computed
tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). CT
gives a highly detailed picture of the anatomy of bone and aid
in subtle fracture diagnosis. MRI has revolutionized the
diagnosis of bone and soft tissue conditions with its detailed
pictures of anatomy and characterization of abnormalities.
Conventional, CT and MRI arthrography are routinely
performed by MBB subspecialized radiologists.

We provide expert image interpretation for the Jacksonville
Jaguars as well as many other professional and amateur
athletes in northeast Florida.

The choice of one or more imaging exams depends on the
patient's condition and is generally initiated by the primary
care provider or surgical specialist. Conventional x-rays are
usually a starting point and can give an overview of the
problem. Advanced imaging may follow with consultation
between the clinical physician and the radiologist to decide
which of these studies might provide the answer as quickly as
possible.

It is our job as MBB musculoskeletal radiologists to make sure
the appropriate test is ordered, taking into consideration the
clinical problem as well as the safety and special needs of
each patient.
